Extremely significant weight loss – 50, 60, or even 100 pounds or more – the health benefits are incredible. But very commonly, these degrees of massive weight loss result in some very loose or even hanging folds of skin in a number of areas. Typically, the backs of the arms, the chest/breasts, the abdomen (especially the lower abdomen), and the thighs are most impacted. Plastic surgeons have some very good options for eliminating the extra skin, lifting and tightening where needed. But the definitive surgical addressing of each area can be quite challenging and involved – and it’s most often wiser (and safer!) to stage out the procedures rather than do them all at once as in the so-called “body lift”.
